Second Life

Second Life (SL) is an online virtual world where users can interact with one another in a natural environment. Since beginning in 2003, Second Life has grown to over 15 million accounts.
The economy in second life works as a free market. Users buy and sell using Linden dollars which have an exchange rate with the US dollar. If you produce virtual goods or services that others want there is money to be made just like in real life.
It is free to create a SL account and make use of the world. For $10 a month, you can open a premium account which allows you to own land, if you wish to own lots of land, then the fee will grow.
There is much more to SL than can be described here, from the way users communicate with each other to how they get around.
