Monopoly City Streets

November 4th 2009 01:16
Monopoly City Streets is a live massive multiplayer online (MMOG) browser game using the Monopoly board game on real world streets using Google Maps.
Monopoly City Streets

Your goal is simple. Become the richest property magnate in the world! Start by buying streets with a given float, build small houses to large skyscrapers, sabotage other players streets as play continues against the rest of the world.

Players start out with 3 million virtual monopoly dollars to purchase properties and buildings. A player's wealth increases daily by receiving rent from the properties and buildings he or she owns. Rent is only paid at 12:00 AM GMT on each day that a player logs in, creating an incentive for daily play. If a player does not log in for two weeks, the bank will repossess all of the player's properties and buildings.

The price of a street is dependent on the length of the street, due to longer streets being able to house more buildings, thus having a greater potential value than a street that can only house a few buildings. In addition, rent is taxed at 3% per street for each street over five owned. Owning 38 streets, the tax rate is 100% and the player will not collect any rent.

Players can buy, sell, and negotiate prices between other players. Players have to pay the deed price as a minimum and may only pay 150% of the deed price as a maximum for levels 1 and 2 (reaching level 3 removes the cap you can offer on another street); property may be used in addition as part of a trade. There are no mortgages to raise cash, instead, a property and all it's buildings may be sold to the bank for half the current street's value, for both the street and all it's buildings. Selling a street with buildings on it returns the money as would selling the buildings off individually, but does not count towards each building being sold one at a time to get a greater chance for a chance card.

Every time the player buys a building or street, they may receive a Chance Card. Bonus building cards allow the player to build a stadium, park or school on their street, which prevents other players from building hazards or demolishing buildings on that street. Bonus buildings can be placed on any street a player themselves owns, and a single bonus building will negate the effects of any and all hazards placed on a street prior to the bonus building, and will still negate further hazards form being placed on that street. It is not required to remove all hazards on a street in order to collect rent if you can place a bonus building on a sabotaged street. Though adding a bonus building to a street will not remove the hazards, and a player will have to remove them if they wish to build anything where they stand, and if the bonus building is removed then all the hazards on a street will become active again and the rent will not be paid for that street until a bonus building is added back, or the hazards are removed. Bonus buildings may be demolished, and must all be demolished before any other building on a street can be demolished. So having more than one bonus building does not allow one bonus building to protect the others on the same street. Hazard cards allow the player to build a prison, factory or waste plant on an opponent's street that does not already have a bonus building and is not full of other buildings. Hazards prevent rent from being collected on that street. Bulldozer cards allow the player to demolish a building on an opponent's street, that is not protected by a bonus building; or a hazard on their own street. Other cards will cause the player to gain or lose money. Note that placing a bonus building on a street will negate the effects of any hazards on that street.

Atlantica Online

June 19th 2009 07:12
Atlantica Online is a 3D massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) which began its official run at 6p.m. PDT on October 30, 2008.

The game is set in an alternate history Earth, with the game map consisting of large parts of the northern hemisphere. The setting is fantasy-themed with elements of steampunk.

The game is free-to-play but generates revenue through the company's online shop which sells items that alter players' in-game appearance or enhances players' abilities.

The game features a persistent world populated by player-generated characters and NPCs. At character creation, a player selects one of seven basic classes and can then customize the character's appearance. There are no races to choose from; only humans are available. The character's class decides what armor that character can wear and what weapons and skills that character can use in battle.

Players do not fight with the starting character alone; as each character levels up, it can acquire player-controlled mercenaries. During the mandatory tutorial section at the beginning of the game, a player chooses his/her first two mercenaries; as the character gains levels, it can control more mercenaries, up to the maximum of eight, which makes for a party of maximum size nine. Players can store additional mercenaries in mercenary rooms.

All characters can, in addition to their battle skills, pursue a number of different crafting abilities.

The game design puts strong emphasis on the concept of guilds. Guilds can control the various towns on the game map. Strong guilds can found nations and wage war on one another.

Battle in Atlantica Online is rather unusual for the genre as it is turn-based. Representations of hostile parties wander around the landscape; if a player touches such a representation, his/her party and the enemy party are transferred to a separate battlefield similar in fashion to battles in the Final Fantasy series and remain there until the battle is resolved.

Ever since its release, it is consistently rated by members of various MMO website portals as one of the top MMO games. To learn more or get started with Atlantica Online, visit the official website here.

Runes of Magic

June 17th 2009 06:54
Runes of Magic is a free massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) launched on 19 March, 2009. The game client is a free download, and there is no monthly subscription fee, because the service is funded by real money transactions (RMT) in the Runes of Magic Item Shop.

Players create a character from one of six character classes, such as warrior or priest, and explore the fantasy world of Taborea while undertaking quests and fighting enemies. Characters can create items by practicing their crafting skills, avoiding combat altogether if the player wishes to play non-violently. Upon reaching character level 10 players are able to choose a secondary character class to increase their avatar's abilities. Core abilities from the secondary class are usable when the player remains in their primary class and vice versa, for instance a warrior with a mage secondary class is able to cast attack magic while still equipped with warriors' more effective armour. Runes of Magic currently features more than 1000 quests for players to attempt. Players may swap between classes by speaking with the housekeeper which lives in their accommodation, each player has their own private dwelling. Each character's home functions as a meeting place, where other players can be invited, as well as a visual demonstration of their progress within the game, since it increases in size as character levels are gained.

Runes of magic has proved hugely popular since it's release as a free alternative to World of Warcraft. To learn more or get started with the game visit the official website here.

Anarchy Online

June 12th 2009 09:08
Anarchy Online is an online role playing video game published by Funcom.

As a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG), players log on to a virtual world that persists indefinitely with or without player interaction. Players create unique characters that they improve by killing enemies, collecting resources, fighting each other, and various other activities. The game's ongoing storyline takes place on the fictional planet Rubi-Ka, and its extra-dimensional twin.

Players assume the roles of newly arrived colonists to planet Rubi-Ka where they create unique virtual characters based on two genders, four species, and 14 different professions such as Agent or Doctor. They then choose to align themselves with either the Omni-Tek corporation, the rebel Clans, or to remain neutral. The game does not require players to follow a rigid linear style of gameplay, and there is no specific goal that must be realized to win. Instead, the general objective is to continually improve the abilities of characters by acquiring items and killing enemies.

Funcom now offer the game's original content including the Notum Wars booster pack for free. In exchange, players are shown in-game advertisements provided by Massive Incorporated. Images and videos are shown on static billboards placed in high traffic areas of the game. Paying customers have the option to replace these ads with ones for fictitious game-world products.

Shin Megami Tensei: Imagine is a Japanese MMORPG based in the Megami Tensei universe.

In the Tokyo of the game's futuristic scene, sometime around the 21st century (Year 202X), survivors of a war known as the "Great Destruction" live in small constructed shelters awaiting the day when humanity can be rebuilt. These survivors, lead by a group known as the "Seven Philosophers" construct a massive tower which eventually became known as "Shinjuku Babel". The remaining survivors then retreated underground and constructed a refugee city known as "Third Home". Here, the player begins their exploration of the world of MegaTen. In this post-apocalyptic world, demonic forces run rampant and it is the player's job to defeat them. Players are given the option to be in one of three groups: Law, who try to preserve the system and bring it back together; Chaos, who try to break the system; or Neutral, freelance mercenary types. Players can, while developing their own character, capture the already mentioned "Demons" and also "Spirits" through the use of specialized skills, then use these captured creatures to battle other monsters in combat. These demons can also be fused together to create more powerful demons. Demon use is based on alignment, skill and abilities of the players. Players can also complete quests to find additional items, learn new skills and explore more of the world of MegaTen

Star Trek

February 16th 2009 09:29
This very involving and rewarding Star Trek game takes some getting used to, but it is well worth persevering with it. To start off, try experimenting with the game controls and functions - Cursor keys (Arrow keys) for ship movement, Mouse Pointer for ship options. The game provides hints and tips as you try different things. Before engaging any Dominion ships in battle, earn yourself some major Prestige Points by running trade missions from star system to star system (hint: try hailing a planet). Then use the Prestige Points to upgrade your ship at the Construction Yard near the Deep Space 9 Starbase (which is your home base). To warp to another star system, first accelerate to top impulse speed, then engage warp speed, then select the map and click on the system nearest to you in the direction you wish to go. Repeat this process as necessary, warping from system to system, until you reach the desired one. When travelling within a star system, make good use of your ship's scanner - it provides information vital to your success.

Your progress up to when you last docked at Deep Space 9 will be saved automatically when you exit the game so that you can continue from where you left off in the future, but you must play the game in this website again in order to be able to re-use the saved data
