Hearts

October 31st 2008 11:21
Hearts is a trick-taking card game, where the aim is to take as few tricks or more importantly points as possible. It is a simple game to learn. Each Heart card is worth one point, the Queen of Spades is 13 points, and other cards have no point value. In each hand, the highest card in the suit that was led wins the trick. When a player reaches 100 points, the player with the lowest point total wins. Even though it doesn't take long to learn the rules, you will be learning the strategies of the game for a long time. You need to play your cards at the right times, set traps for your opponents and go in for the kill when necessary.
It can be a lot of fun so give it a go you've got nothing to loose!

Genre: Cards
Time to Play: 20 minutes

Civilization

October 22nd 2008 09:57
Sid Meier's Civilization, commonly referred to simply as Civilization or abbreviated to Civ or Civ I is an all time classic strategy computer game.
The game starts in 4000BC and finishes in the near future, the objective is to build a Civilisation that will stand the test of time.

Civilization is turn-based and single-player. The player takes on the role of the ruler of a civilization starting with only one or two Settler units. The player attempts to build an empire in competition with between two and six other civilizations. The game requires a fair amount of micromanagement.

Along with the larger tasks of exploration, war and diplomacy, the player has to make decisions about where to build new cities, which improvements or units to build in each city, which advances in knowledge should be sought (and at what rate), and how to transform the land surrounding the cities for maximum benefit.

You can now download and play Civilization for free from Dos Games Online here.

Players adopt the role of one of seven faction leaders and engage in a race against time to control the planet. There are a number of different strategies players can use to win the game, and scientific discoveries made while playing determine what buildings and units can be built. Alpha Centauri is very open-ended and there are many avenues to victory. The game can be won via diplomacy, economics, conquest, or transcendence.
