Carmageddon

July 30th 2008 15:07
Carmageddon is the first of a series of graphically violent driving-oriented video games produced by Stainless Software, published by Interplay and SCi.

It was originally released on the PC (for DOS) in 1997, but has since been ported to Macintosh (1997), PlayStation (1999), Nintendo 64 (2000) and Game Boy Color (2001). The PlayStation & N64 versions of Carmageddon are more like Carmageddon II.
Carmageddon

In Carmageddon, the player races a vehicle against a number of other competitors in a (usually) suburban setting. The player has a certain amount of time to complete a specified number of laps of a course, but more time may be gained by going through checkpoints, collecting bonuses, damaging the competitors' cars or by running over pedestrians.

Genre: Racing
Time to Play: 30 mins
Difficulty: Medium

Metal Gear Solid

July 28th 2008 14:46
Metal Gear Solid, commonly abbreviated as MGS, is a stealth-based game that was developed by Konami and was first published for the Playstation 1998.

As well as being a reference to the game's protagonist, Solid Snake, the suffix Solid is also used to indicate that this is the first Metal Gear to use completely 3D technology. It is also a reference to the fact that it is the third game in the Metal Gear series (solid = cubed = 3).

Set in 2005, the game sends Solid Snake to infiltrate a nuclear weapons disposal facility in Alaska's Fox Archipelago, recently captured by terrorists from FOXHOUND. Colonel Campbell instructed Snake to rescue two hostages, the DARPA Chief, and the president of defence contractor Arms Tech, to determine if the terrorists had nuclear strike capability, and if so to stop them. The winding plot leads Snake once more into an epic battle.

Having grown from the style popularized by Resident Evil, Metal Gear Solid was ground breaking in its use of spoken dialogue, an intricate if somewhat obtuse plot, and cinematic presentation.

You can now play Metal Gear Solid for free online here from DosGamesOnline.

The World's Hardest Game

July 25th 2008 09:08
This is the hardest game the world has ever seen. It is guaranteed to be more difficult than any game you have played or will ever play.

You are the red square. Avoid the blue circles and collect the yellow circles. Once you have collected all the yellow circles, move to the green beacon to complete the level. Some levels consist of more than one beacon. The intermediary beacons act as check points. You must complete all 30 levels to be able to submit your score. Your score is a reflection of how many times you have died. The lower the score, the better.

The controls are simple, just use the arrow keys to move.

This really is the world's hardest game, I can't even get past the first level!

Genre:
Time to Play: Forever
Difficulty: Most difficult game ever made

Willy Beamish was first published in 1991 by Sierra Entertainment. The player takes on the role of nine-year-old Willy Beamish in a humorous graphic adventure that is somewhat of a parody of the adventure genre.
